I'm Ismail Choudhury, and HarborPoint Renovations is my business. I work directly with homeowners across the United Kingdom on residential improvement projects that focus on the small, practical details that genuinely change how a home is used. I founded my practice because I wanted to create a way of working that places clarity, craft and the homeowner's experience at the centre — rather than treating each project as another transaction. Every conversation, plan, visit and final review happens with me personally, so you'll always know exactly who is responsible for the work in your home.

My approach is shaped by a simple belief: a successful home improvement project is one where the homeowner feels informed and respected from the first conversation to the final walk-through. Cost matters. Quality matters. But the experience of working with someone — the way they listen, plan, communicate, and follow through — is what people remember years after the project is complete. I want every HarborPoint Renovations project to be remembered for that experience as much as for the work itself.

I believe in planning before building. I believe in clarity before commitment. And I believe that homeowners deserve to know exactly what they are paying for, exactly when it will happen, and exactly how it will be delivered. There is no benefit, for either of us, in leaving any of those questions vague at the beginning of a project.

Communication standards

I respond to enquiries within one business day. I keep written records of every meaningful conversation we have. I send a written summary after consultations so that nothing is left to memory or interpretation. During delivery, I provide updates at agreed checkpoints, and I am available on phone and email throughout. At the end of a project, I walk through the completed work with you and confirm in writing that the scope has been met.

I never use language that obscures what is happening — no jargon, no industry shorthand, no inflated technical descriptions. If something is going to take longer than expected, I will tell you, in plain English, as soon as I know. If something is going to cost more than the agreed scope, I will pause and ask before continuing. I treat clear, calm communication as part of the work itself.

Planning process

Every HarborPoint Renovations project follows the same considered planning rhythm. It begins with a consultation, where I take time to understand what you are trying to achieve and why. From there I review your property, the existing space and its constraints, and I put together a written proposal that defines the scope, sequence, timeline and price. Only when you are satisfied with that proposal do we schedule the work and begin.

I prefer this slower, more considered start because it removes ambiguity from every step that follows. The homeowner knows what they are getting. I know what I am delivering. There is no scope drift, no surprise costs, no half-finished decisions being made in the middle of the project. Every later decision is anchored in the plan we both agreed to at the beginning.

Residential improvement focus

HarborPoint Renovations specialises in residential property improvement. My core areas of focus include interior refresh projects, storage and utility optimisation, residential organisation, and multi-area enhancement programmes. I work on individual rooms, on connected sequences of rooms, and on whole-home improvement plans where the goal is to modernise the property as a coherent whole.

I do not take on commercial fit-outs, structural works requiring engineering input, or works that fall outside the scope of residential improvement. This is a deliberate choice — by keeping the focus narrow, I can give every project the attention it deserves and maintain the level of finish that homeowners expect from a premium practice.

Project delivery approach

On the day work begins, I arrive with the agreed plan, the agreed materials, and a clear sequence for the work. I treat your home with the same care I would treat my own — clean floors, tidy spaces, respectful presence, and considered protection for surrounding areas. If the project spans multiple days, I leave the site in a usable state at the end of each working day. I check in regularly so that nothing is left to assumption.

I prefer to work on a single project at a time. This keeps my attention focused, prevents scheduling conflicts, and means that you have my full availability throughout your project. It is part of why HarborPoint Renovations operates as an independent practice rather than a larger firm — because the quality I want to deliver is impossible to maintain at scale without losing the things that make it worth choosing in the first place.

Independence and structure

HarborPoint Renovations is an independent sole trader business operated from 102B Arragon Road, East Ham, London, E6 1QN, United Kingdom. There are no partners, no employees, and no subcontracted sales teams. Where specialist trades are required as part of a project — for example certified electrical or plumbing work — I will let you know in advance, coordinate the work, and remain your single point of contact throughout. Every contract is with me, every invoice comes from me, and every responsibility for the work in your home rests with me.

How to start a project
